Taking Instagram by celestial storm is Milky Way-inspired galaxy nail art inspired by the galaxy’s abundance. Although galaxy nail-specific tutorials have been circulating for a while, the nail trend has snowballed on social media in the past year.
Do you remember the galaxy craze that swept the internet almost a decade ago? In 2013, everything galaxy-related went crazy – galaxy clothes, galaxy rooms, galaxy wallpapers, galaxy notebooks, galaxy tumblers, even galaxy hair. Twitter, Facebook, and other small-scale social media platforms caught on to this craze as well as the popular blogging platform Tumblr.
Galaxy nails were perhaps one of the most popular takes on the trend. Galaxies still look beautiful and mysterious after almost a decade. And this trend is definitely back right now!
In case you’re tired of your current look and you want something a little more dreamy, check out these stunning galaxy nails that you can recreate at home.

How To Do Galaxy Nails At Home:
Are you interested in galaxy nails but worried you can’t create them on your own? There’s no need to worry, we found this awesome nail art tutorial that’s not difficult and is basically a no-fail method to getting flawless galaxy nails.
The techniques used are simple enough for beginners to follow, but you’ll need several different nail polish colors. I love this nail art tutorial for teens, as it is not impossible, and it is a lot of fun to do with friends. With its stars and enchanting outer space look, you will be amazed at how cool this one looks. Below is s a step-by-step tutorial on how to paint galaxy nails – check it out.
Step One: You’ll need to apply two to three coats of black nail polish to your nails and let it dry completely.
Step Two: On a plate, pour out a little bit of each of your galaxy nail design colors. To start, take the white makeup sponge and lightly sponge on a bit of white. Then add a little bit of royal blue and purple. Adjust the sponging as you wish until you like the look. You can also use slightly different colors based on the type of design you’re doing.
Adding just a tiny bit of white with your sponge will add more dimension. For added depth, leave some of the black polish showing on your nails (that’s the “space” part). Lastly, add a tiny bit of silver sparkle. Really: the less the better, or you’ll end up with sparkle nails instead of galaxy nails.
Step Three: To represent stars, use a toothpick to add little dots on your nails. You can also make slightly larger stars by drawing a tiny cross or star shape with the toothpick.
Step Four: Finish your galaxy with a top coat once the design dries. Depending on the look, you can choose a shiny or a matte topcoat (I usually choose shiny but both can be really beautiful).
Keep in mind that you can follow these steps with any kind of nail polish: regular, gel, dip, or acrylic. The design process for your galaxy nails is the same!
